Who is AGII?

Association of Grandparents of Indian Immigrants (AGII), a registered nonprofit organization, is dedicated to the production of audiovisual materials for the families of Indian Immigrants. Carefully selected stories, depicting India’s glorious past, are narrated in English with music and sound effects. This brings to life, using modern multimedia techniques, the still pictures of the famous Amar Chitra Katha series, yet preserving the educational values of our productions. We have nearly 300 stories captured in 49 DVDs (each of 120 minutes duration).

Special Sale

Grandpa took a leading part in the production of our videos for the past twenty years with the spirit of dedicated service to the grandchildren. He is now 80 years old. He is still in rather good health, but he is not getting any younger and so our production may slow down. To ensure wide distribution of his work, we are currently offering our DVDs for a special price of $5/DVD. This covers the cost of packaging and mailing within USA. The complete set of 50 DVDs costs (Ramayana Cartoon movie is given away free) only $200 and is cased in a decorative display box. As there is no copyright of our products, we hope that all families of Indian immigrants will own a complete set and reproduce the DVDs for the future generations, to learn and enjoy.

Payments can be made through credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover) or by check. For security reasons, credit card information should be given only by telephone. Call grandpa (610-762-1500) and leave your telephone number in the voice mail along with the ideal time to call back. Grandpa will get the details. In case of payment by check, make your check payable to AGII and mail it to: P.O.Box No. 50032, TN 37205

Story of Aruni

This story is taken from Mahabharata that illustrates the special relationship that ought to exist between the teacher (guru) and disciple (shishya).

Aruni of Panchala was a dedicated student of the ancient sage Dhoumya. In the days of yore, a student had to stay with the teacher and help in the teacher’s daily chores in order to receive the knowledge he sought.

It was a day of cold winter. Aruni was carrying the firewood he had collected for the sage's household. As he was passing by a field, which belonged to the sage, he noticed a breach in the embankment that was holding water in his teacher's field. He realized that the water would seep away and the field’s crops would die with no water.
